Got a picture of the fixed fibreglass bonnet, before (above) and after (below), a problem with a tweaked chassis and a question.
Now for the tweaked chassis. I think it's been in a light front-end shunt at some point. If you look at the front bumper mounts on is higher than the other. It might be that the fibreglass bonnet is twisted, but one is definitely further back and higher up. Once the body's off and the engine's out I'll have a look to see if there are any ripples and try and straighten them out with an oxy-acetylene blowtorch.
Finally, the question. The vent that lets air into the cockpit* ventilation system is just filled in with fibreglass on my new bonnet. Rather than cut out each individual slat, my plan is to just cut a hole and fibreglass in some fine black aluminium mesh.
The question is, do I cut vents in the side like the Le Mans Spitfires. If I do, should I put the same mesh in them as well or the slats like the old racers?
*Cabin seems a bit pedestrian a term for a Spitfire. Plus, it implies roominess.
